How CrossFit Prepared Us For DEKA FIT (PT 1)

I signed up for DEKA FIT largely because of Mike. He competed in the event last year, and hearing about his experience definitely piqued my interest.
I had also been looking into HYROX events and had already registered for the Denver competition in November, so DEKA FIT felt like the perfect introduction to this style of racing. I saw it as an opportunity to experience a fitness competition, test myself in a new environment, and identify areas where I could continue improving before my next event.
CrossFit gave me a huge advantage when preparing for the race. The combination of strength, endurance, and functional fitness we train regularly translated extremely well to the demands of DEKA FIT.
Many of the movements and challenges felt familiar, and there was a clear connection between what we do in class and what was required on the competition floor. Because of that, transitioning into the event felt very natural.
The experience itself was a lot of fun, especially because I got to compete alongside a friend from the gym. The event was extremely well organized, and the energy inside the venue was awesome. Once my heat started, the adrenaline kicked in and carried me through the course.
It was exciting to push myself in a different setting and see how well my training translated outside the gym.
Overall, DEKA FIT was a great experience and something I would absolutely do again. It gave me a better understanding of what to expect from future fitness competitions, helped build my confidence heading into HYROX, and reminded me how valuable the training and community at Train really are.
