Coming Home: Finding My Way Back to Train Denver

It’s been a full-circle moment walking back into Train Denver after more than five years. In some ways, it feels exactly the same. In others, it’s evolved into something even more beautiful. But one thing hasn’t changed? That iconic lion mural on the wall—though now it has neon eyes. (Seriously, amazing.)
I first joined Train back in 2018. I even got to witness Jimmy coach his very first class! Brooke, as always, didn’t hold back: “Speak up!” she told him mid-workout. Watching how far he – and this gym – has come is just one of many reasons this place feels like home.
I did the CrossFit Open (twice), Summer Smasher, and joined in on more community events than I can count. It felt like family. But life had other plans. I met my now-husband, moved to Germany, and bounced around Colorado while he served in the military.
Fast forward to 2024, and we’re back in Denver. I had a baby in January 2025, and while navigating early motherhood, I realized something was missing – community. I was still working out at home on the Peloton tread, sneaking in sessions between naps, but it didn’t feel the same.
And then I thought of Train.
When I found out two of my close friends, Megan and Jesse, had already joined, I knew it was time. Within one week of returning, I’d already met incredible people I can’t wait to work out with again and again.
Being back at Train feels like slipping into your favorite pair of jeans after years of trying on the wrong ones. The workouts are still challenging, the people are still the same welcoming, fun crew, and that sense of belonging? It never left.
I’m so grateful for this place – for how it held space for me then, and how it welcomed me back now. Train Denver isn’t just a gym. It’s home.
